The Scopa Table

Some of my favourite memories of growing up in an Italian family weren’t the big celebrations—they were the afternoons & late nights spent around the table. A deck of Scopa cards, endless conversation, competition, and three generations together without anyone noticing the time passing.

The Scopa Table is a tribute to those moments. It celebrates the traditions that are woven into everyday life and the simple rituals that connect families across generations. The figures are intentionally small, allowing the surrounding space to become part of the story—inviting the viewer to reflect on their own memories of home, family, and belonging.

Inspired by my Italian heritage, this original painting is a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful moments happen around a table, where stories are shared, laughter is loud, and traditions quietly live on.
