Alessia Lucille is a Melbourne-based artist whose work is inspired by her Italian heritage and the beauty found in life's simplest moments.
Working primarily with acrylic paint and oil pastel, Alessia creates contemporary figurative paintings that romanticise the everyday. Her work celebrates the beauty found in simple moments and the memories that grow from them.
With family roots in Sicily, Alessia grew up surrounded by a culture where food, family and togetherness were woven into everyday life. Her Nonna, Nonno and father migrated from Sicily to Australia, carrying with them traditions that became part of her own upbringing. From annual passata days and crowded family tables to stories of home and regular trips back to Italy.
The colours, characters and unhurried rhythm of Italian life continue to shape the visual language of her work. Her figures are intentionally left open, existing not as specific people but as familiar characters within a memory. This allows the viewer to see something of their own life, family or story reflected within the work.
Through her work, Alessia celebrates the beauty of slowing down, noticing the everyday and appreciating the moments that often go unnoticed.
