For so many Italian families, sauce day isn’t just about making tomato sauce—it’s about coming together. It’s hands stained red from ripe tomatoes, conversations that last for hours, recipes passed down without measurements, and traditions that quietly continue from one generation to the next.

Inspired by memories of my Italian heritage, Sauce Day celebrates the beauty found in ordinary moments. The figures are intentionally small within the composition, allowing the space around them to hold the weight of memory and nostalgia. It’s a reminder that the rituals we often take for granted become the stories we carry with us.
